Yerba Maté

Origin: Brazil

Order per oz

Our organic yerba maté is cultivated using organic farming practices and has received fair trade certification from IMO, ensuring ethical sourcing. When brewed, it produces a light green beverage that boasts a refreshingly bold flavor. Yerba maté refers to the dried leaves and stems of a holly plant native to the South American rainforest and holds the distinction of being the national beverage of Paraguay. The term "mate" originates from the Guarani Indian language and denotes a gourd, which was traditionally hollowed out to serve as a vessel for holding the tea.

In traditional yerba maté consumption, it is common for close friends and family to share a tea cup, utilizing the same straw called a bombilla. This act of sharing the same straw symbolizes complete acceptance and friendship. Yerba maté stands out as one of the most potent beverages worldwide, containing over 196 active compounds, surpassing the number of active compounds found in Green tea (Camellia sinensis), which has around 144. Our tea is untreated and free from any fillers or flavoring agents, providing pure organic yerba maté leaves in every cup.
